The Minnesota Lynx have the opportunity to win their fifth WNBA championship at Target Center this week.

Home court advantage Wednesday and Friday nights should give the Lynx a leg up against the New York Liberty, who evened the best-of-five series at one apiece on their turf Sunday. All the Lynx need to do is win two more games to claim the title.

We know the Lynx are capable of beating the Liberty, like they did to win the Commissioner’s Cup earlier this season. Hopefully the Lynx completely crush the Liberty at home so there's no need for Game 5 on Sunday in Brooklyn.

Let's show up and support our squad!

Target Center will be packed to the gills with the upper bowl open. Tickets to both home games were almost sold out by Tuesday morning, but there are still plenty of other places to watch the games with fellow Lynx fans.

Minneapolis spots screening the WNBA finals:

  • A Bar of Their Own (2207 E. Franklin Ave.) just outside downtown
  • Beckett's (3006 Lyndale Ave. S) in LynLake
  • The Corner Bar (1501 Washington Ave. S) near downtown
  • Falling Knife Brewing Co. (783 Harding St. NE) in far Northeast
  • Gluek’s Restaurant & Bar (16 N 6th St.) across from Target Center
  • Kieran’s Irish Pub (85 N. 6th St.) also across the street from the stadium
  • Lyon’s Pub (16 S. Sixth St.) near the stadium
  • Riverview Theater (3800 42nd Ave. S) in the Howe neighborhood
  • Tom’s Watch Bar (609 Hennepin Ave.) a couple blocks from Target Center
  • Wild Mind Ales (6031 Pillsbury Ave.) in deep Southwest

This is the Lynx’s first WNBA playoffs appearance since 2017, when the team won its last title. The Lynx also won in 2011, 2013, and 2015, led by the group of Seimone Augustus, Lindsay Whalen, Maya Moore, Rebekkah Brunson, and Sylvia Fowles.

Lynx superfan Nicole Jackson thinks the 2024-25 Lynx have what it takes to defeat the Liberty again and take their fifth title. Right as the playoffs began, she wrote for Downtown Voices about the magic formula of this year’s roster, with Napheesa Collier, Kayla McBride, Courtney Williams, Natisha Hiedeman, Alanna Smith, and Bridget Carleton.

Ahead of the WNBA semifinals in September, the City painted “Go Lynx!” on First Avenue in front of Target Center and temporarily put up Lynx-themed street signs at intersections surrounding the stadium. The Minnesota Timberwolves got the same treatment when they were in the NBA playoffs in May.

Minneapolis Downtown Council President and CEO recently told Downtown Voices that he supports a parade for the Lynx if they win the championship.
