The Pourhouse has closed after 12 years in downtown Minneapolis.

The Prohibition-themed bar and music venue, located at 10 S. Fifth St. in the historic Lumber Exchange Building, announced on Wednesday that it’s no longer in operation but didn't cite a specific reason for the closure. Recent social media posts from people in the local music scene say the Pourhouse closed “unexpectedly” and “abruptly” over the weekend.

Here’s an excerpt from the announcement: “The Pourhouse has been your home for fun, live music, and party energy in the Twin Cities since 2012. Sadly, our party has come to an end and our doors have closed for the last time. We have been through many iterations of downtown Minneapolis and have been a home base for generations of Minnesotans.”

Hempel Real Estate recently took over management of the Lumber Exchange Building and plans to redevelop the property, potentially as a residential conversion, according to the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal.

The Pourhouse is refunding tickets for upcoming shows scheduled at the downtown venue. Artists who were scheduled to play there will no doubt be looking for a different place to play.

The Pourhouse used to have locations in Uptown and Dinkytown, too, but they didn't last long.
