A second swanky sports bar is in the works in downtown Minneapolis.
Namos Restaurant & Lounge promises “the ultimate luxury sports bar experience” at 601 Chicago Ave. across from U.S. Bank Stadium. The bar and restaurant will be “a fusion of culture, cuisine, and live sports like you’ve never seen,” according to a recent Instagram post.
Downtown Voices reached out to Namos for additional information on Monday and received a response on Thursday. A representative confirmed that it's wrapping up construction and opening soon. A job post seeking a general manager for Namos went up on ZipRecruiter earlier this week.
A message from the business reads: "Namos will be an upscale, elevated sports bar, offering a relaxed atmosphere with calm music during the day and transitioning into a vibrant Ibiza- and Marbella-inspired experience at night – all while serving top-quality food."
The roughly 5,500-square-foot Elliot Park restaurant space was previously occupied by Erik the Red, which opened shortly after U.S. Bank Stadium was completed in 2016 and closed in late 2019, and Hubert’s Cafe & Sports Bar before that during the Metrodome era.
Meanwhile, over in the North Loop, another new sports bar is bringing elevated American food and 40 TV screens for watching sports to 411 N. Washington Ave., the former AxeBridge Wine Co. space not far from Target Field.
The Rabbit Hole will also bring in bands and DJs for late-night tunes Tuesday through Saturday, according to the North Loop Neighborhood Association.
Owners Joe Berg (The Pourhouse), chef Tom Pivec (Lord Fletcher’s), Deepak Nath, Jay Ellinger, and Craig Dauffenbac are planning an early December opening.
Nath told Food Service News that it will be a “high-energy sports bar with an eclectic comfort food menu and fun weekend entertainment."
