Dry January is over, but that’s not stopping Loring Park’s Brühaven Craft Co. from continuing to invent beverages for people who are sober-curious anytime of year.
Under its new BrüWell brand, Brühaven is releasing a line of functional beverages made with mushrooms and other adaptogens. The debut flavors are lemon lavender, tangerine, peach mango, and cucumber ginger.
Brühaven also makes sparkling hop water, which can be flavored with the same options as its hard seltzer. Strawberry lemonade, dragonfruit, and grape are the current flavors.
There’s an NA version of Brühaven’s popular Pup’s Premium Lager, too. Plus, 5mg THC seltzers for those practicing California sobriety.
That diversity of options carries over to the dog-friendly brewery's events calendar.
Since opening last June in the former Lakes & Legends space, Brühaven has been steadily building a rolodex of partners that host events in the taproom. Co-founder and master brewer Alex Doering told Downtown Voices that Brühaven wants to be as community-centric as Lakes & Legends.
“We felt that was really important, to carry on that tradition and be an active member of the community,” Doering said.
Recurring events at Brühaven include trivia on Tuesdays and Thursdays, bingo benefitting The Aliveness Project on Fridays, and puppy adoptions on Sundays with Healing Hearts Rescue. Brühaven frequently hosts Mogi Bagel pop-ups, board game nights, social gatherings, and live music as well.
A fun one-off event happening soon at Brühaven is The Big Lebowski Bash on March 8 from 3-11 p.m.
The taproom features three axe-throwing bays, three dart boards, and a projector screen, which often screen Timberwolves and Vikings games.
Brühaven is also installing custom-built partitions from Anth's Chop Shop so parts of the taproom can be cordoned off for private events, like weddings, birthdays, and company gatherings, ranging from 20 to 80 people.
“We love the space,” Doering said. “I feel like we're finally starting to gain some traction in the neighborhood.
“People are finding out about us, getting used to us and what we offer. Some of our beers are starting to hit.”
For guests who want to imbibe, Brühaven always has about a dozen beers on tap, as well as Bloody Marys and mimosas made with brewed spirits.
Brühaven is open at 1368 La Salle Ave. from 2-10 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 12-11 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m, to 8 p.m. Sunday.
There’s free parking in the Emerson Elementary School lot after 2:30 p.m., and the LPM Parking Ramp offers two hours of free validation to Brühaven customers. Metered street parking costs $0.50 per hour on La Salle Avenue and 14th Street directly outside the brewery.
