A national spotlight shone on St. Anthony Main as ABC’s “Good Morning America” visited for its “Main Street USA” series.

ABC News reporter Alex Perez gathered with local business owners and other members of the Northeast Minneapolis community outside of The Main Cinema on Tuesday morning.

During an introduction to the segment, Perez called St. Anthony Main a “charming neighborhood” and “a hidden gem nestled … in the Twin Cities.”

The almost five-minute-long segment touched on the history of the area along the Mississippi River and featured Aster Cafe, TC Swing, Minneapolis Water Taxi, and Human on a Stick. Watch the full St. Anthony Main segment here.

GMA kicked off its “Main Street USA” series in Stillwater last July and honored bar owner Sara Jespersen. The series celebrates communities that are “keeping the American spirit alive” around the Fourth of July.

“Main Street USA” heads to Ann Arbor, Michigan on Wednesday.
